Hello, hello!

Poor Ian and Jade…. I really believe they would have done sooo well in the competition and I agree with Len, there’s not much competition anymore. Ricky G has now gone and he truly worked hard! Maybe if the others that are left can put in as much effort as him, Ali and Ricky W wouldn’t be having such a walk in the park!

Yes, it was the Hayley show last night. It seems I either sing everything or nothing at the moment… two Madonna numbers, the girl’s bit in Prince, Celine Dion, Noisettes and Eva Cassidy! The most random set list in the world, but then anything can happen at Strictly!  The one I enjoyed the most was the Noisettes!  I’m not massively into modern things (as I’m sure you’ve gathered) but when a song has an amazing melody, nice chord changes, fun lyrics and a live band feel what’s not to like!!!! A new band with their own sound being creative! Amazing!

I was most nervous at having to recreate Eva’s version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’. I pretty much adore every version of this song I hear so to try to recreate a version that is so well loved I’m pretty much expecting to be slated before I’ve even begun!  Even so, we can’t deny that it’s one of the greatest songs of all time! Apparently, if I remember correctly, after watching a documentary on the original film of ‘Wizard of Oz’ it wasn’t definitely going to be used!! Can you imagine what the world would be like without that song… the whole dynamic of music supporting film, the thing that most people associate with Judy Garland... Talking of legends I adore!!! SHIRLEY BASSEY!!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHH I want to be her! What an amazing performer, vocalist, presence! We were all blown away in sound check. She’s another from the days of true artistry who refused to have a monitor!

She is without doubt the best Guest Act I’ve seen since I started!  There is no-one I respect more… well, there a lots of great musicians I respect actually but yesterday for the first time in my life I had an urge to shout ‘I LOVE YOU’ while she was rehearsing and considering I don’t believe people should shout or sing along during peoples performances I had an overwhelming feeling of euphoria and completely understood why people behave the way they do at a Robbie Williams concert…. If I had been lucky enough to be around in the era of The Beatles I would have been at the front, crushed in a crowd on many occasions I think!

So, just as the dance off was happening I became relaxed at the thought of not having to do Eva or Celine again and drifted off into my own world listening to Tommy do Nat King Cole... Absolutely loved it, however, completely forgot to set up for the next song, and was still sat on my stool while the second couple got into position, doesn’t sound like a big deal but I find it hard to get off the stools as they’re so high and I was worried about the camera shot, if I was ruining the beginning of the routine by having me faffing about and causing distractions with papers etc… but I still have my job so it was obviously completely exaggerated in my head! NEXT TIME CONCENTRATE!

P.S.  Thanking Len for his name check as I wasn’t feeling overly confident at that moment! XXXX
